Toddler killed in DUI collision in Lemoore is identified as Fresno girl, CHP says

A 1-year-old was killed early Sunday morning in a collision in Lemoore, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The baby was identified Monday by Kings County Sheriff’s Office as Liliana Valencia of Fresno

Officers were called to the scene off Highway 41 near Hanford Armona Road around 1:16 a.m. Sunday.

Officers determined that Rodney Klamerus, 50, was driving a 2012 Hyundai north on Highway 41 approaching Hanford Armona Road at a high speed when he collided into the rear of a 2013 Nissan that was turning onto the highway from Hanford Armona Road.

Three passengers in the Nissan – Eduardo Arteaga, 37; Saul Arteaga, 39; and Deborah Duran, 33 – were also injured. Both Arteagas were taken to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford.

The toddler was later pronounced dead at Adventist Medical Center.

Klamerus also suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center where he was in critical condition.

CHP believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. Klamerus will be booked into Kings County Jail for multiple felony charges, according to CHP officer John Taylor.
