Police say they’ve arrested Michael Christopher Chavez, 30, after he allegedly stole a woman’s purse on Jan. 5, 2018.

Fresno police say they’ve arrested the purse snatcher who robbed a woman as she sat outside a restaurant on Jan. 5.

Michael Christopher Chavez, 30, was arrested after officers identified him as the man caught on video outside Lancer’s Bar and Grill on Kings Canyon Road.

Surveillance video posted to Lancer’s Facebook page on Jan. 9 shows a man riding a bike around a parking lot, then riding up to the woman and snatching her purse before riding away.

The Facebook post said the woman was a new employee at a nearby Martinzing Cleaners and was taking her break when her purse was stolen.

Police say Chavez is a gang member who is on parole for burglary.

He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of felony theft and a parole violation.
