A southeast Fresno apartment occupied by several people was shot at by unknown gunmen Saturday, and Fresno police are investigating, said Lt. Joe Gomez.

At 1:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to 1620 S. Chance Ave. where the window of a bedroom was struck by a bullet and seven shell casings were found outside. A 14-year-old boy was in the bedroom and six other people were in the apartment at the time, Gomez said. No one was injured.

Gomez said two Hispanic or Asian men in a black Honda Pilot starting shooting at the apartment then fled south on Chance Avenue.

Police do not believe the family is associated with a gang and believe the shooting may have been a case of mistaken apartment.

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
