Fresno woman shoots boyfriend, then fatally shoots self, police say
A woman shot her boyfriend and then shot herself in northwest Fresno just after midnight early Saturday, said Lt. Joe Gomez of the Fresno Police Department.
Police responded to a report of a woman who called her family saying she had killed her boyfriend.
Officers arrived about 12:18 a.m. at Lexington Apartments on Lexington and Glenn avenues and heard a gunshot as they were circling the unit, Gomez said.
The shot is believed to be the self-inflicted shot that ended the 38-year-old woman’s life, he said.
The 36-year-old male victim then emerged from the apartment with several gunshot wounds.
He was transported to the hospital, underwent surgery, and Gomez said the man is expected to survive.
When police entered the unit, they found a gun lying next to the woman’s body.
Gomez said this wasn’t the first visit by police to the couple’s residence. On Jan. 18, police responded to a domestic violence call.
Police have not received a statement from the victim and the motive is unclear at this point.
