Man accused of hiding gun during probation search

A man was arrested Friday after allegedly trying to hide a gun during a probation search.

Benjamin Salcedo was outside a home on the 200 block of North Poplar Avenue when police arrived on Friday, according to a Fresno police press release. He allegedly ran inside when he saw detectives, where he tried to discard his gun.

He was caught as he bolted out of the back door and the gun was found during a search of the apartment. Salcedo admitted to trying to discard the gun, police said.

Salcedo, who police believe is a gang member, was arrested on suspicion of multiple felonies and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
