One man killed in Orange Cove shooting
Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a homicide in Orange Cove after a shooting Thursday night.
At around 6:30 p.m., Orange Cove police officers were called to the 800 block of Celaya Street for calls about an injured person. Arriving officers found a one man with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was identified Friday afternoon as Silverio Tapia, 26, of Orange Cove.
Detectives believe the victim and two other people were outside a residence, when two or three men walked up to the house and opened fire. The suspects then ran from the area and have not been located.
Although the crime happened in Orange Cove, by request Fresno County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation.
