Hollister police on Thursday named a Fresno man as a suspect in a 2017 rape case, and law enforcement is searching for him.

In late 2017, the victim checked into Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital in Hollister and reported they were sexually assaulted in downtown Hollister, police said in a news release.

Hollister police used the date and time of the incident to isolate video from the downtown surveillance footage system.

Pictures from the footage were released to the public on Jan. 11, along with a request for help to identify the suspect. Two sources approached police with information indicating 31-year-old Cory Dean Daughtery was the person in the footage.

Police also worked with the victim, who provided enough information for police to obtain a warrant for Daughtery’s arrest.

Daughtery’s warrant is for rape and other charges. His bail is set at $130,000. Daughtery also is wanted on another no-bail warrant for a parole violation, police said.

Daughtery is believed to be a transient, and police are unsure of his whereabouts. He may have left the Hollister area, police said. Police thanked the community members who helped identify the suspect and supported the victim in this case.

Anyone who has information about Daughtery or knows his whereabouts is asked to contact Hollister Police Department at 831-636-4330. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous can call WeTip at 800-78-CRIME. Information provided to WeTip may qualify the tipster for a reward.
