2 slain near Chowchilla ID’d as detectives investigate meth lab

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office identified Armando Villanueva, 70, and Marta Torres, 63, as the victims of a homicide near a methamphetamine lab Tuesday in the 24000 block of Robertson Boulevard, in Madera County near Chowchilla.

Detectives say the two are residents of Mexico visiting family in Chowchilla for the last several months. Both victims showed signs of apparent trauma, and autopsies to determine cause of death will be conducted by the end of the week.

The methamphetamine lab was discovered in an adjoining residence, and the state Department of Justice cleaned and removed evidence and material from the building. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call detectives at 559-675-7770, or Valley Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867 (STOP).
