A 17-year-old boy was shot Tuesday night on a southwest Fresno street corner as he rode his skateboard, said Fresno police Lt. Steve Card.

Police were alerted by ShotSpotter just after 7 p.m. that several gunshots went off at Myers and Thorne avenues.

When officers arrived, they found a teenager shot in the upper body, Card said. The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Police believe the shooting was gang-related.

Card said the teen was alone on the corner when he was shot, and he ran west on Myers, where police found him.

A gray Honda van is believed to be involved in the shooting, Card said, and it was last seen leaving east on Myers.

At least two guns were used in the shooting, Card said.
