Dejarrne “DJ” Smith, 31, of Hanford, was sentenced Thursday in Kings County to 62 years to life in prison for raping a woman in Lemoore, the Kings County District Attorney’s Office said.

At a trial last month, Smith was convicted of kidnapping to commit a rape, forcible rape, assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of criminal threats.

The sexual assault happened Jan. 17, 2015. Smith was a stranger to the victim, the District Attorney’s Office said.

The trial included testimony from the victim and a woman Smith raped in 2003, the DA’s Office said. Crime scene evidence was also shown to the jury.
