Hanford police seek shooter after shots strike boy, cars at school

Hanford police detectives continue to interview witnesses in a shooting in front of Roosevelt Elementary School Monday afternoon that left a 14-year-old boy wounded.

A police spokesman said the shooting took place about 3:30 p.m. in the 800 block of West Davis Street. Four cars in the school parking lot were also struck by gunfire. Arriving officers determined that here was no shooter on campus and a lockdown was lifted after about 15 minutes. The officers learned that a group of male juveniles were walking by the school when a vehicle occupied by other males drove by and someone inside opened fire. The wounded boy was taken to Adventist Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call detective Jason Gustin at (559) 585-4723.
