Fresno sheriff’s deputies investigating two suspicious deaths
Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two suspicious deaths in central Fresno.
Deputies responded to a home in the 6200 block of North Colonial Avenue about 3 p.m. Monday for a welfare check after a neighbor reported the occupant missed an appointment, said Tony Botti, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
Deputies found two people deceased in the home, and evidence in the home led investigators to believe their deaths were suspicious. Botti stopped short of saying the deaths were the result of a homicide or murder-suicide.
“It just sounded like it was unusual for this person to not show up for an appointment, so that rose to a level of concern for this person and that thought to get us involved,” Botti said.
Detectives didn’t find any sign that a property crime, such as a burglary or robbery, occurred, he said.
No details on the victims’ identities were released.
Detectives are in the early stages of their investigation and still plan to interview family, friends and neighbors and conduct search warrants, Botti said.
Neighbors said there was a car fire in front of the house around Thanksgiving.
No other details were immediately available.
