Stabbing that left man in critical condition was unprovoked, police say

A 34-year-old man remains in critical condition Sunday after being stabbed inside a home in southeast Fresno, police Lt. Stephen Viveros said.

Arnold Benson, 32, allegedly stabbed the man once in the upper torso while the two were inside a home on the 300 block of North Avenue. A witness inside the home said the attack, which happened about 9:30 a.m., was unprovoked.

Officers found Benson after searching the area, and he was arrested.

The man was taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition but is expected to survive, Viveros said.
