Gunfire in his backyard drew the cops’ attention. Then they found a stash of meth

When neighbors called Visalia police to report that a man was firing a gun repeatedly in his backyard just after 11 p.m. Friday, responding officers found more than a handgun and ammunition.

Inside the home on the 1300 block of North Park Street, police reportedly also found 11 grams of methamphetamine and the alleged gunman, Jose Luis Placencia-Ayala, 45, who they say was high on meth.

Placencia-Ayala was arrested and charged with negligent discharge of a weapon as well as drug-related charges. He also had a DUI arrest warrant.

Injuries or damages were not reported due to the shooting. It was unknown why the man allegedly fired the gun multiple times.
