Fresno man arrested after firing gun in home filled with family
A Fresno man was arrested after firing a gun in a residence full of his family members in southeast Fresno on Sunday afternoon.
Fresno police officers responded to the 1200 block of East Calwa Avenue at 2:26 p.m., after a woman called saying her brother was in the house waving around a gun and shot one round into the ceiling, according to Fresno Police Sgt. Pete Boyer.
After officers arrived they were able to question some family members who had ran out of the house. As officers approached the residence, the suspect, Augustine Rosas, walked out of the house and sat on a chair by the front door.
Officers then made commands for Rosas, 29, to come out from the fenced area of the residences. After complying Rosas was taken into custody. Officers then checked to make sure no one had been hit and found a .44 caliber revolver and a one hole in the ceiling.
No one was injured. Officers believe that Rosas’ drug addiction played a factor to the incident. .
Rosas was booked into Fresno County Jail for charges of being a felon with possession with a firearm and gross negligent discharge of a firearm.
