Fresno County adds new security at Plaza Building
Fresno County Wednesday installed metal detectors staffed by county security officers at the Plaza Building on Tulare Street in Downtown Fresno.
Spokesman Jordan Scott said the measures are being implemented to “ensure the safety of the public and county workers” in light of recent gun violence in downtown Fresno and other incidents around the county. Scott said the shooting at the Fresno County Jail in September of 2016 was also a consideration.
A number of county agencies, including the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office and county public works are based in the building.
