Fresno police Friday investigated what they called the suspicious death of a homeless man in Pinedale.

The 51-year-old, who is known by police in the area, was found dead in a sleeping bag around 7 a.m. near the Little Caesars pizza shop at Blackstone and Pinedale avenues, said Lt. Joe Gomez.

The man who found him began yelling that he believed he was dead and police were called, said Gomez.

The man had trauma to his upper body, but it's unclear if that was the cause of his death, Gomez said.

The man is from Pinedale and often sleeps in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.
