Fresno on Friday morning were investigating what they called a suspicious death of a homeless man in Pinedale.

The man, who was 51 years old and known by police in the area, was found dead in a sleeping bag around 7 a.m. near the Little Caesar’s restaurant at Blackstone and Minarets avenues.

A man who found him began to yell he thought he was dead, and police were called, police Lt. Joe Gomez said.

The man had trauma to his upper body, Gomez said, but it was unclear if that was linked to his death.

Gomez said the man is from Pinedale and often sleeps in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.
