A man is in critical condition after being shot in east-central Fresno near Olive and Sylmar avenues Wednesday night, said police Lt. Carl McKnight.

About 10:13 p.m. police responded to a report of a shooting victim in the 1200 block of North Sylmar Avenue where they found a man in his 20s with one gunshot wound.

McKnight said the shooting may have happened at a carport nearby, and then the victim went inside an apartment.

The man was found inside the apartment by a resident who lives in the complex.

McKnight said it is a possible that the shooting was gang-related.

The victim is not cooperating and was sent to Community Regional Medical Center, McKnight said.
