2 dead, 4 injured in fiery Hanford crash early Thursday
Hanford police are investigating a fatal collision crash early Thursday that killed two women and injured four others.
The pickups crashed about 1 a.m. at the intersection of Grangeville Boulevard and Avenue 9 1/4. A Dodge pickup was northbound and a Toyota pickup was being driven eastbound at the time of the collision.
When police arrived they found three men with major injuries who were ejected from the Dodge pickup, which was on fire. Two women were inside the pickup and unable to escape despite the efforts of witnesses, who attempted to remove them. Police said the fire prevented witnesses from getting to them.
A sixth victim, who also had major injuries, was inside the Toyota pickup.
Hanford firefighters extinguished the fire.
The four injured victims had critical injuries and were taken to hospitals in Fresno and Visalia by ambulance and one by SkyLife helicopter.
Police say the identities of those involved in the crash were not available.
Identities of the women who died in the fire are pending notification of relatives by the Kings County Coroner’s Office, police said. The other victims were unable to be interviewed by officers.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by Hanford police.
