Visalia student arrested in threats to blow up school

A 16-year-old student was arrested in Visalia Wednesday after threats to blow up a school were reported to police.

Sgt. Gerrit DeJong said the threats involved Visalia Charter Independent Studies in the 1800 block of West Meadow Avenue. Officers interviewed the student and searched his home for explosives, but found no suspicious material.

The boy was booked into juvenile hall on charges of making criminal threats.
