Sleeping woman wounded when someone shoots at Fresno apartment
One woman was injured in an early morning shooting Sunday during a party at a northwest Fresno apartment, Fresno police said.
Police received at call at 4:43 a.m. to assist emergency medical crews with a possible rape in the 300 block of Lexington Avenue, near Audubon Avenue, Lt. Joe Gomez said. When officers arrived, they discovered the woman with a badly bleeding gunshot wound to her leg.
Gomez said the residents of the apartment were having a party that was winding down when someone from outside the apartment shot inside, hitting the victim, who was asleep at the time. The shooter then fled on foot.
The victim was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, Gomez said.
Gomez said in the investigation police discovered that neighbors had heard the gunshots but did not call police. Gomez urged people to call police if they hear any shots fired.
