A father and son were arrested Sunday after Fresno police found guns during probation searches  and identified both men as gang members, said Cpl.  Tomas Cantu.

Mario Baltazar, 39, was stopped in the area of Tulare and Maple avenues at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday. Officers found Mario Baltazar to be on probation for felony weapons charges, Cantu said.

A subsequent search determined that his father, Francisco Baltazar, 62, had a sawed-off 22 caliber long rifle and a semi-automatic gun, said Cantu.

The son was arrested on suspicion of narcotics charges and probation violation. His father was arrested on suspicion of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, Cantu said.
