Fresno police arrest suspect in weekend stabbing of woman
A Fresno man was arrested for the predawn Saturday stabbing of a woman in southwest Fresno, police said Monday.
About 5:25 a.m. Saturday, Fresno police went to 2148 S. Lily Ave. on a report of a woman being stabbed. Upon their arrival, they found the wounded woman and were told the suspect had fled.
Officers found Rocio Gomez, 21, suffering from stab wounds when they arrived. Officers administered aid and she was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
Officers were told her ex-boyfriend stabbed her and they found him at his home, 420 W. Hawes Ave., where he was taken into custody with the assistance of a police dog.
The suspect, Victor Alberto Dominguez-Gomez, 22, of Fresno, suffered a self-inflicted cut on his neck and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, police said.
Dominguez-Gomez is recovering from his self-inflicted injury at the hospital, and when he’s released he will be booked into Fresno County Jail on suspicion of murder.
