A 38-year-old Madera County man was arrested on suspicion of six counts of rape with a special circumstance of great bodily injury.

The victim in the case is a minor, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The great bodily injury was impregnating the victim, law enforcement officials said Tuesday.

Apolonio Sanchez-Hernandez, who lives near the city of Madera, was booked into Madera County Corrections Friday night. His bail is set at $2.1 million, according to jail records.

The Madera County District Attorney’s Office is awaiting the paperwork to file charges, said David Linn, Madera County District Attorney. He said impregnating can be considered “great bodily injury.”
