How a car thief crashes, swipes another vehicle, makes getaway
A hoodie-clad car thief managed to elude Fresno police Thursday morning after he crashed into a light pole in southwest Fresno, then sped away after stealing another vehicle.
A police spokesman said the suspect slammed into the light pole on West Church Avenue just east of South Walnut Avenue about 7:40 a.m. after he was spotted by officers. The suspect jumped from the stolen SUV and ran about 100 yards to a home just west of Walnut, where he dived into the idling vehicle and peeled out. He remains at large.
