Woman killed by falling tree in Yosemite identified by park officials
A woman killed by a falling tree in Yosemite National Park on Sunday was identified by park officials as Destiny Rose Texeira Borges, 20, of Ceres.
Yosemite spokesman Scott Gediman said the fatality occurred in Half Dome Village in Yosemite Valley about 10 a.m. amid heavy snow and high winds. Borges was working for a company contracted by a park concessioner. Half Dome Village was formerly known as Curry Village. It has tent cabins and wooded cabins that are utilized by park visitors and park employees. The area was closed Sunday after the incident, but reopened Monday morning.
