Woman, 70, sent to hospital after being hit by vehicle

A 70-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon while walking in east-central Fresno.

Consuelo Perez was walking east on Princeton Avenue when Cheng-Wei Chiang, 26, drove south on Chestnut Avenue and struck her, said the California Highway Patrol. The woman sustained major injures, including head trauma, and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
