Fresno County Coroner IDs victims of two separate crashes
The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has identified two people who died in accidents on Friday.
The victim of a rollover crash west of Coalinga was identified as Cherise Palmer, 54, whose hometown was unknown.
The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened about 1:30 p.m. Friday when Palmer was headed west in a 2009 Pontiac G6 on Highway 198 west of Coalinga, east of Crump Lane, with a 2-year-old boy.
Palmer was driving at about 60-65 mph when she lost control of the vehicle, hit an embankment and rolled. The 2-year-old was safely strapped into his seat and suffered only minor injuries. Palmer, whose age was initially given as 49 by the CHP, was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected. She died at the scene.
Also on Friday, Rafael Rodriguez Victoria, 72, of Fresno, died in a crash into a canal in front of 136 N. Thorne Ave. in Fresno. No further information was available.
