Madera police arrest suspect in armed robbery
Madera police arrested a man they say was filmed robbing a store employee at gunpoint Saturday night.
A female employee was alone at the Valero gas station at 211 S. Madera Ave. when the man entered the store and robbed her at gunpoint.
Sunday, Madera police arrested Lupe Urzua at the Bonadelle Ranchos and determined he was the suspect in the robbery. When Urzua was arrested, he was found in possession of heroin.
Madera police said Urzua wore the same shoes he had when he committed the armed robbery. Further evidence of the robbery was found at his home, police said. Urzua is reportedly on parole for multiple armed robberies.
Uruzua’s girlfriend was arrested for unrelated charges; she was also found to be on parole.
The female store employee was not injured in the incident, police said.
