A Hoover High School non-credentialed teacher’s aide was arrested last month after allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old special needs student.

Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez said Theresa Ramirez, 35, faces three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor stemming from the relationship, which the boy told detectives began in fall 2015. She allegedly had sex with the boy while helping him with his school work off-campus.

Police first learned of the accusations in May, but the boy was not willing to cooperate. In August, he told a school official, who reported it to the Fresno Police Department.

News of Ramirez’s arrest comes a day after a Tenaya Middle School teacher was arrested on three felony counts of having sex with a 14-year-old student at the school last year.
