Look out for mail thieves in Clovis neighborhoods, police warn
Authorities are advising Clovis residents who have community mailboxes to pick up their mail daily and keep an eye out for mail thieves.
There has been a recent spike in community mailbox breaches, said Clovis Police Department spokeswoman Janet Stoll-Lee.
“The breaches seem to be happening between the hours of 4 a.m. and 10 a.m.,” Stoll-Lee said. “We are encouraging people to pick up their mail in a timely fashion.”
Residents are asked to call 911 immediately if they see someone breaking into a mailbox, she said. Anyone with information regarding the possible identity of the person or people responsible for these crimes is asked to call Clovis Police dispatch at (559) 324-2800.
“The Post Office is aware of the break-ins and is working to repair the damage to these community mailboxes,” Stoll-Lee said.
