Nothing Bundt Cakes hits Clovis
In a world run rampant with cupcakes and cake pops, the pastry industry has been revolutionized by revisiting a beloved classic — the Bundt cake. Make no mistake, Nothing Bundt Cakes does not serve up anything less than decadent deliciousness. That is why owner Linda Stuve is so excited to finally open her business’ doors to the public.
“We only just opened on Thursday [Nov. 12],” Stuve said. “The first day was really busy with a lot of people coming in, and we’ve already had several opportunities for big orders.”
The sudden rush of cake craziness may be attributed to the fact that Nothing Bundt Cakes, a national chain with a devoted following, has found its way to Fresno/Clovis for the first time. Nothing Bundt Cakes has locations all across California from Sacramento down to San Diego; residents of the Central Valley might have seen the stores in Bakersfield and Carmel and wondered when we would be getting our very own.
“We are proud to be the first store in Fresno,” Stuve said. “Two ladies named Dena and Debbie actually started the whole thing in 2006, and now there are around 200 locations.”
Founders Dena Tripp and Debbie Shwetz teamed up in 1997 and came to realize their passion for baking could become something greater. Their approach to cake has changed the experience of purchasing an oftentimes dry and bland pre-made cake from a store.
“At Nothing Bundt Cakes, we bake our cakes fresh daily using only the finest quality ingredients: fresh eggs, real butter and cream cheese, to ensure the most delicious tasting cakes,” Stuve said.
Nothing Bundt Cakes has numerous classic and premium flavors: red velvet, chocolate chocolate chip, lemon, marble, pecan praline, carrot, white white chocolate, cinnamon swirl and white chocolate raspberry. Each cake comes with the same tried-and-true cream cheese icing in generous, thickly-piped lines.
Some of the most unique features of Nothing Bundt Cakes are the sizing possibilities. Larger cakes are available in 8- or 10-inch varieties ranging from $23 to $33, while Bundtlets and Bundtinis make perfect individual portions. Bundtlets are miniature versions of the Bundt cakes that start at $4.49. Bundtinis are an even smaller, bite-sized Bundt cake sold by the dozen. Tiered cakes, 8-inch cakes placed on top of 10-inch cakes, are a smart choice for consumers looking to feed a crowd of up to 30 people.
For Stuve, Nothing Bundt Cakes holds a special significance and represents more than baked goods.
“This is my first time owning a bakery business. Previously I had worked in management and in retail. But now we are a family business; it’s [run by] my husband Kurt and I, and our daughter Kaela Yadav and her husband Mohit Yadav,” Stuve said.
This December, Nothing Bundt Cakes will give back to the community that has welcomed them so heartily. The store’s grand opening events take place over three days and you won’t want to miss them.
At 5 p.m. Dec. 3, Clovis Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony. Shortly after the ribbon cutting, guests are invited to a wine and cake tasting until 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 is Susan G. Komen Central Valley Benefit Day: 20 percent of sales will be donated to the well-renowned breast cancer organization.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, the first 50 guests with a purchase will win free Bundtlets for a year (one Bundtlet per month for 12 months).
Starting at noon the same day, bring along the kids for a family fun event with face painting and balloons.
