Students take a stand against drugs in annual parade
Rain didn’t stop Clovis Unified students from taking a stand against drugs and marching in Weldon Elementary School’s 27th annual Red Ribbon Parade.
The Weldon Warriors cheerleaders led the parade the morning of Oct. 28 from their school on DeWitt Avenue through the streets of Old Town Clovis. Select students from nearby school Sierra Vista Elementary joined in the parade while the rest of their campus watched.
Each grade level carried a sign recognizing a pillar of character as they marched through streets wet from an overnight storm.
Weldon held its first parade in 1989, the year the school won the National Drug Free School Award.
