The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3225 in Clovis will place wreaths at the resting places of fallen heroes in Clovis Memorial Cemetery, Academy Cemetery and Red Bank Cemetery as part of the 2015 Wreaths Across America program.

This is the first year Academy and Red Bank cemeteries will be included in the national program that honors veterans during the holidays.

Volunteers begin to lay wreaths in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, at noon on Dec. 12, and volunteers at cemeteries across the country place their wreaths at the same time. In California, wreath placing will begin at 9 a.m. Ceremonies will begin at 8 a.m. at each cemetery in Clovis.

Sponsors and donations are needed to purchase wreaths for each veteran’s grave, said VFW officials.

Each wreath costs $15. Donations may be sent to VFW Post 3225, P.O. Box 1852, Clovis CA 93613. Contact Post Cmdr. August Flash at 999-1948 for details.
