Clovis PD unveils new app

Clovis residents can now submit crime tips and traffic problems to the Clovis Police Department and look up crimes that have happened in their neighborhood using the department’s new mobile app.

Clovis police partnered with Mobile PD, an Austin, Texas-based developer of law enforcement and public safety mobile applications, to launch the free application.

The app is designed to keep residents informed and make the community safer, according to the Clovis Police Department.

So far more than 2,000 residents have downloaded the app, but there could be more.

“There is a bug with Apple’s new iOS, so until everyone updates their iOS version, we may not know they downloaded the app,” said Sgt. Jim Munro.

Users of the app can choose to receive alerts for urgent situations and emergencies, such as missing children and natural disasters. They can also view crime maps, read press releases from the city and police department and connect with the department through social media.

Residents may also submit tips — anonymously if they so choose — relating to crimes or traffic problems occurring within the city.

“We’ve received some good tips so far,” Munro said.

App users can also request graffiti removal, vacation house checks or register their bicycle. Photos of Clovis Police Department’s “most wanted” and decades of historical department photos can be viewed using the app as well.

Clovis Police Department Mobile is available to download for free in the Apple and Android app stores.
