Athlete of the Week: Oct. 14
Savannah Fitzgerald, junior, Clovis North High School
Sport: Varsity girls water polo
“Savannah could be nominated to be Athlete of the Week for countless reasons: her leadership, her athletic ability, her determination, but most importantly for her character. Savannah is an amazing water polo player who serves as one of our team captains this season. She plays primarily as a hole set/driver for our team. She is currently leading our team in goals, steals and assists.” — Coach Kari Genco
Athletic Achievements: Fitzgerald swims with Clovis Swim Club and for Clovis North. She is a two-year first team All Valley swimmer and swam in the state finals last year as a sophomore. She was Clovis North’s water polo MVP last year as well.
Academic Achievements: Fitzgerald has a 3.88 GPA and is a member of the California Scholarship Federation and an NHS applicant.
Co-curriculars: Fitzgerald volunteers with the youth group at her church and has been a river camp counselor.
Ambitions: Fitzgerald hopes to play water polo at Stanford and make the national team. Her ultimate goal is to play polo in the Olympics.
