Magsig is new mayor of Clovis
Nathan Magsig has been named the new mayor of Clovis following a March 9 Clovis City Council reorganization meeting. The mayor’s post rotates every two years, and the position was previously held by Lynne Ashbeck.
Prior to being elected to city council, Magsig worked for the state legislature as a field representative and district director for the 29th District Assembly.
Magsig has been on Clovis City Council since March 2001. This is his second term as mayor. He previously served as mayor from 2005-2007.
“Clovis has always been a big part of my life,” Magsig said. “I went to Clovis schools, and I’ve always enjoyed government and politics. It’s part of your job to work for your constituents, and growing up my father worked with people in ministry. Working in government allows me to work with people like he did.”
Some of Magsig’s top priorities for this term include economic development, creating jobs, investing in the city’s infrastructure, road projects, and making sure Clovis residents receive exceptional service from the city. He would also like to see more art throughout the city, and support active, outdoor lifestyles.
“I am a strong supporter of trails, as well and creating bike lanes,” Magsig said. “Clovis is a community that continues to be healthy, and I want to support and prov the opportunity to get people outside of their cars and make Clovis a walkable and bike-able community. I have many ideas and would like to continue to work with city council to make Cloivs better.”
