Christmas dinner: Several restaurants are open on holiday
While most people will be having meals at home on Christmas Day, several restaurants will be open if you want to eat out.
Most people who eat out on this special day are looking for one of two things: a special Christmas-themed meal without the work, or just a low-key meal for various reasons. Here’s a run down with restaurants that fit both categories.
Asian restaurants are often a good choice for people who want a break from the holiday hullabaloo. Sometimes hours are limited, so check to make sure they’re open first.
Imperial Garden at 6640 N. Blackstone Ave. will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Golden Horse Restaurant at 4313 North Blackstone Ave. is open regular hours. Both will serve their regular menus and dim sum.
Mitsui Buffet in Clovis will be open. Edo-ya Tokyo Cuisine at 3050 W. Shaw Ave. will be open from 4:30 to 9:30 serving teppanyaki, sushi and other food.
Marie Callender’s is open and serving six special holiday entrees, including turkey, ham, homestyle beef Stroganoff and vegetable pasta. The meal includes soup or salad and a slice of pie.
Meals for adults cost $19.99 and kids for $8.99.

Christmas Day is a busy one for Ruth’s Chris Steak House in River Park. The restaurant was so busy last year that it extended its hours for Christmas this year and will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

Now if you’re looking for a real holiday experience, Erna’s Elderberry House in Oakhurst will be serving a special meal on Christmas Eve, with a seating at 6 p.m., and Christmas Day from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Christmas Day menu includes a roasted Christmas goose and plum pudding. The Christmas Eve meal is $110 per person and the Christmas Day meal is $108.

The Mountain Room Restaurant at Yosemite Lodge at the falls — the one that’s just steps away from waterfalls — is serving a three-course meal. It includes roast duck, prime rib and a vegan baked portabella. The meals costs $54.95 for adults, and half portions for children ages 6 to 12 cost $23.50.
The Wawona Dining Room is also serving a multi-course meal featuring maple brown sugar crusted pork loin, prime rib and butternut squash risotto. The meal costs $49.95 for adults, $21.50 for kids ages 6 to 12 and 5 and under are free.
