First Valley Gottschalks closings coming Sunday

The Gottschalks stores at Manchester Center in Fresno and the Hanford Mall are scheduled to close Sunday.

The stores are the first in the central San Joaquin Valley to close. Other stores have already closed, including Port Angeles, Wash., and two stores in Anchorage, Alaska.

Both Valley stores will open at 10 a.m. Sunday.

An employee at the Manchester Gottschalks said the store would close early that day but did not say when. The Hanford store will be open until 5 p.m.

All Gottschalks stores are closing, following the retailer's bankruptcy and liquidation.

The remaining stores in Fresno, Clovis and Visalia will close sometime before mid-July.
