88-year-old man thrown from 1940 coupe in Oakhurst crash

An 88-year-old North Fork man was ejected from his 1940 Ford Coupe in a crash on Highway 41 in Oakhurst late Friday.

The California Highway Patrol said Herbert John Curry suffered major injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center. There was no word Saturday morning on his condition.

According to the CHP, Curry was northbound traveling downhill on 41 about a mile south of Erna’s Elderberry House about 10:30 p.m. when he veered off highway. The coupe went down a steep embankment before hitting a telephone pole and overturning. Curry, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected through the passenger side window.
