No Recess For Safety in this back to school month
The Fresno Police Department is starting up its operation No Recess for Safety as schools head back into session.
Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 10, traffic officers will be monitoring assigned school zones, attempting to ensure the safe passage of children to and from school, Chief of Police Jerry Dyer said.
Fresno Unified Schools will open Monday, Aug. 15, and enforcement will be in place at all elementary, middle and high schools, Dyer said. Beginning Aug. 22, officers will begin monitoring all Clovis Unified Schools in Fresno City limits.
Dyer wants to remind Fresno area drivers that school zones are 25 mph while children are present, and encourages everyone to keep an extra eye out for crossing guards and children walking to and from school.
