Lemoore woman and baby seriously hurt after crashing into a tree

A Lemoore woman and baby were seriously injured Wednesday after crashing into a tree north of Hanford.

A 25-year-old woman was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser south on 14th Avenue south of Excelsoir Avenue around 6:15 a.m. when the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder. The driver then swerved across two lanes, hitting a tree, the California Highway Patrol said.

The woman suffered major injuries and was transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center. The 5-month-old baby also suffered major injuries and was taken by aircraft to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera.

The crash remains under investigation. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor, the CHP said.
