Mendota woman killed in solo vehicle wreck near Madera
A 25-year-old Mendota woman was killed early Thursday morning after she was thrown out of her vehicle in a solo crash near Madera, the California Highway Patrol said.
The victim was driving a 2002 Cadillac Escalade east on Avenue 17, west of Road 23, at an unknown speed, when the SUV drifted off the roadway and into an orchard around 5:52 a.m., the CHP said.
The victim turned the Escalade back to left and caused it to roll over, the CHP said. The victim was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown out of the vehicle during the collision. She suffered fatal injuries.
The collision remains under investigation, the CHP said. The victim’s name has been withheld pending notification of family by the Madera County Coroner.
