Missing hiker who survived 10 days in Sierra found, authorities say
A hiker who went missing on July 13 was rescued Saturday near Cedar Slope, surviving 10 days with very little food or water, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team located the man, identified as Frank Wolsko, 57, of Bakersfield, near Cedar Slope, about an hour northeast of Porterville.
Authorities had found Wolsko’s dog, Cassie, who had been with him on the hike, days earlier when she returned to his car. But they were unable to find him until Saturday.
Wolsko had originally set out for a day hike on July 13 but changed his planned route and quickly became lost, authorities say. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for exposure and dehydration and released.
