Woman rescued from bedroom in west Fresno home fire

A woman with mobility issues was hospitalized with second- and third-degree burns after firefighters rescued her from her burning bedroom in west Fresno early Saturday morning, Fresno Fire spokesman Hector Vasquez said.

The flames erupted around 7:26 a.m. Saturday at 2262 N. Ring Ave. Fire crews were on scene within four minutes of receiving the call and quickly rescued the woman. She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

The fire was contained to the back portion of the house, near the woman’s bedroom. After crews rescued the woman, they found a man nearby who was suffering from lacerations on his hands and who may have tried to enter the home to rescue the woman before crews arrived, Vasquez said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
