Merced teen dies after rave event at Fresno theater

An 18-year-old female died early Sunday after attending a rave event in Fresno, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.

Debbie Yang of Merced died after a rave at the Crest Theater, located at 1170 Broadway Plaza, the sheriff’s office said.

The cause of death has not been determined, but toxicology results are pending.

American Ambulance spokesman Edgar Escobedo confirmed one person was picked up Sunday from the venue around 1:30 a.m.

Escobedo said he could not release any further information regarding the incident.

Fresno Police Lt. Joe Gomez said police were not aware of the death until days later.

A Facebook event page lists the event, which lasted from 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., as “Hot Summer Nights 7.” Several musical guests performed, according to the event page.
