1 killed in Highway 201 crash in Tulare County
A 35-year-old Woodlake man was killed Friday when his pickup crossed into the oncoming lane of Highway 201 east of Road 156 southeast of Cutler and collided with a Freightliner truck, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man has not been identified pending notification of his family.
He was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, hauling a trailer, west on Highway 201 at 12:41 p.m. when he veered onto the shoulder, struck a fence adjacent to an orchard, then traveled back onto the highway and into the eastbound lane in front of a 1999 Freightliner driven by Raul Galvan of Parlier, the CHP said. Galvan was not able to stop the truck prior to the collision.
Both vehicles went onto the shoulder and struck a power pole, the CHP said.
The Woodlake man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was fatally injured. Galvan was not injured.
