Fun – and fireworks – were on display Saturday at the Chowchilla Fairgrounds during the Red, White & BOOM Fireworks Festival put on the Chowchilla Lions Club.

Celebrations and fireworks displays were the order of the day across the central San Joaquin Valley as the nation celebrates the Fourth of July.

More fireworks shows are planned on Monday.

Although Valley temperatures are expected to remain below 100 on Monday, fire officials were urging the public to use legal “safe and sane” fireworks – and to be careful how you use them to avoid sparking a fire in dry grass or brush.
