Visalia bicyclist in critical after being hit by car

A 44-year-old Visalia woman who was hit by a car while riding her bicycle Monday is in critical condition at Kaweah Delta Medical Center, Visalia police said.

About 9:15 p.m. Monday, Hayden Dolan, 18, was driving a 2006 Dodge Charger west on Mineral King Avenue just east of Simon Street when his car struck the bicycle, which also was traveling west, police said.

The bicyclist was identified as Charlene Carpenter, who suffered head trauma and internal injuries, police said. Dolan was not injured.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
